This day honors the contributions, resilience & sovereignty of the tribal nations of Indigenous Peoples. It honors the cultures & histories of Native American people and focuses on both the tribal roots that strengthened Indigenous communities and the tragic stories of their exploitation.

American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians are the Indigenous Peoples who first inhabited the territory of the United States. For our nation and our church, it is essential that we recognize the history, cultures, languages, and traditions of the first keepers of this land.
