The telos, or divine “endgame,” for racial reconciliation is not restored relationship between whites and people of color…It is the establishment of a just world, one in which racial inequities have been abolished. This means that the current practices, policies, and societal norms that disadvantage people of color or advantage white people must be abolished and corrected. On June 17, 2015, Clementa C. Pinckney, Cynthia Marie Graham Hurd, Susie Jackson, Ethel Lee Lance, DePayne Middleton-Doctor, Tywanza Sanders, Daniel Lee Simmons, Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, and Myra Thompson were murdered at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, SC.

#ELCA St Monica (c. 332 – 387) was an early North African Christian saint and the mother of Augustine of Hippo. She is remembered and honored in many Christian traditions on May 4 for her outstanding Christian virtues. More here:

Saint Mark is a painting of 1448 in tempera on canvas by Andrea Mantegna in the Städel Museum, Frankfurt. A depiction of Mark the Evangelist, it is the earliest known work by the artist. It shows Mark as a brown-skinned man with coarse hair seated leaning into a window frame. He is wearing richly decorated red clothing. Behind his head is a round halo. On the right side of the picture, a large book leans against the window frame. In front of Mark there is a golden apple. Mark’s hand is cupped next to his ear in a listening pose.
