Have you read the short story THE THINGS by Peter Watts that's a retelling of the events of the 1982 The Thing from the thing's perspective?

"I am being Blair. I escape out the back as the world comes in through the front."

In Syria people are now fleeing Homs in anticipation of the arrival of opposition forces. The roads to Damascus and Tartus are jammed.

Homs is just 162km north of Damascus.

Recently finished Christopher Buehlman's The Lesser Dead and loved it. A colony of vampires living in an abandoned subway, narrated by a charming little shit. The character voice is incredibly strong, as are Buehlman's literal voices as he narrates the audiobook, which is my recommended experience.

I'm trying to be more active in the horror community. My tastes run broad and I like bits of everything but tending to the quietly creepy, gothic, or eldrich.

Books, games, film. Mostly books lately.
