"Good day M'lord. I heard the village over the hill have committed acts of heresy and witchery. His lordship must purify the sinful!"

And then a rat shows up from a boat, Khan-ing it's way through the populace looking for cheese

That's how I remember my history lesson

All this for the possibility of the 'why' apocalyptical stories don't try having a version of the internet surviving. Though it simply could be just a matter of taste and familiarity of how most see a post apocalyptic world today. If someone is willing to try for it, i would not mind reading it

Yes i see it. And there are concerns for them while in the Geo belt and maintaining their trajectories. There are many factors, for they need constant observation of staff, the natural dangers of space and debris, and losing critical infrastructure on the ground. It is not a simple thing

Which can make for a interesting setting of certain parts of the world only being the last bastions to have the internet. And how they traverse the world with all or mostly all equipment from it

There's alot yes, and space is big. However that does not mean those communication arrays are safe. Again, MAD, if the war became that heated that it warrants destroying everything. Plus even if those weren't targeted, the buildings that run them certainly can get destroyed, causing issues

Sorta true, but it depends on their orbit distance from mid air nukes. Even so, one can shoot it down with Anti-satellite weaponry. If one aint getting the internet, no one is also getting it. MAD, as they say. But i do like the idea behind it for one to utilize the internet after the apocalypse
