McFadden misleads The Telegraph
"Last thing we want to do is assess a snapshot...assess once & that’s the end of it”
Wrong! The WCA is a RIGOUROUS & REPEATED process
"Youngsters mustn't be abandoned on sickness benefits"
Wrong! Only 73,685 under 22s receive sickness benefits (1.6%)

You cannot feel empowered or secure enough to effectively jobseek on UC Basic Rate of £424pcm, especially when ill/disabled & under duress of sanctions
But that's what the Labour Government are proposing for 80%* of claimants who will no longer qualify for UC Health Element (LCWRA/ESA)

Kim, they are NOT consulting on two major & devastating changes 👇
Making the PIP assessment, via 4 point min rule, the sole determinant of access to both PIP & UC Health risks 46% (1.3m) of PIP being ineligible & 80% (2m) of UC Health (LCWRA/ESA) being ineligible

Also the "guarantee" of protection for LCWRA/ESA *if* you magically pass reassessment is completely undermined by the section saying the entitlement will be frozen only for 4 years. They won't allow a cohort of 3m+ to escape reforms esp as goal is "get people back to work". We're not safe at all.

Also of the 65%/76% in receipt of PIP do you really think the DWP are going to allow retention of LCWRA/ESA if it's found you no longer qualify for PIP after review? The PIP assessment will be sole determinant of PIP & LCWRA/ESA status so why would they only remove one & not other?

Thanks for providing your insight. I wish I had luxury of detachment to trust they won't include WCA scrappage etc in upcoming vote. Are you aware that so-called "guarantee" of protection for LCWRA/ESA has massive caveat of only occurring following reassessment? 100% opportunity for stealth cuts.

Again, please see below - they are *not* consulting on WCA scrappage or on tying to PIP qual so it WILL be voted on alongside PIP & £ cuts. It's imperative the LCWRA/ESA group get equal focus *now*. We are the ultimate target group for dismantling & pushing into work despite being too sick/disabled

Existing LCWRA/ESA protection "guarantee" is caveated by "following [WCA] reassessment".
Considering Gov are trying to significantly reduce welfare bill, do you really think they'll miss this opportunity to deny as many people as possible of their current status? Cuts by stealth?

Legacy ESA group are more "established" group than LCWRA & have a slightly higher % in receipt of PIP. They also have a higher % *difference* of those on enhanced PIP than those on standard (% difference: 61% Vs 19%) so there may be slightly more =>4 PIP pointers in ESA Vs LCWRA
