Racists aren't going support reducing inequality, because inequality is racialised, reducing inequality helps marginalised people. Racists will absolutely make themselves worse off to spite the targets of their racism. You alienate more potential allies by pandering to racists than you gain.

Not in the individuals interest to have a child so they've someone to look after them in old age, that function is professionalised and socially funded (whether by pension/retirement investments or state)

Was thinking about this, occurred to me the diminishing economic benefits aren't just during childhood, in wealthy countries, it's become less common for parents to directly benefit from their children in old age.

They think reality has cheat codes and if someone/thing is smart enough, those cheat codes can be deduced by Pure Reason. They think they're going to turn on infinite money, invulnerability and noclip mode. That's the fantasy underlying, see also "Rationalism" and the like.

Pet theory: it would have been pretty much the same, they didn't need those guys, there never was nazi-superscience or nazi-superscientists; they brought them in because not because they were useful but because they liked them.

Different cases for selling to wealthy nations with single-payer vs impoverished countries. Former use bargaining power to bring price below profit max, but for the latter the profit maxxing price might well be lower than the profit maxxing price in a wealthy country. Unclear how all that shakes out

More likely they are using "hard drive" to generically refer to "the box". Same way some people use "the cpu".

Not obvious that gold gets you anywhere in a systematic crash. Only thing you can do with gold is trade it for other things, it limited use value in itself. If value is destroyed systemically, you won't be able to trade it for as much.

Only makes sense to sell if you can buy an uncorrelated asset. But no such assets exist. If you can trade two assets easily, they're going both within the bounds of the same crashing system.

couple of bad reasons they might be supporting the good conclusion come to mind: 1. koch et al being natural resource oligarchs view tech oligarchs as an enemy faction 2. from the tech oligarch side private power digs them a wider moat against competition.
