There's very little meat in these gym mats.
Today's watch - Warfare, directed by Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza. An incredible cinema experience. Go see it on the biggest, loudest screen you can.

Today’s read - Saga, Volume 7 by Brian Vaughan and Fiona Staples. Another great book in the series. Everything flows along so smoothly. I love seeing the characters develop issue to issue.

Today’s read - Buddha Vol 3: Devadatta, by Osamu Tezuka. I’m loving this series. The art is simple yet detailed when it needs to be. There’s a ton of casual violence, which is mostly funny in a young-kid way, but also makes you wonder where it’s coming from, be that personal or cultural #comicsky

Today’s read - The Name of the Game by Will Eisner. This was my first Eisner book and I really liked it. The art is so clean and the characters so real. I really disliked a few of them as people. I’ll definitely be looking out for more of his books. #comicsky

Today’s read - Batman Hush, by Jeph Loeb, Jim Lee and Scott Williams. I don’t read Batman singles but I have read a bunch of trades. This one was up there. Great art and the story has good pacing too. I can see why it’s getting a sequel this year. #comicsky

Today’s read - Saga Volume Six, by Brian Vaughan and Fiona Staples. Still loving this series. Great mix of tender moments, action and the occasional debauchery. I’m becoming a big fan of Ghüs 🦭 #comicsky

Today’s read - V for Vendetta, by Alan Moore and David Lloyd. Dang. I’m starting to think this Moore dude knows what he’s doing. Such an awesome story. Loved the setting and the tone of the writing. I wasn’t sure of the art at the beginning but the oppressive feel really grew on me #comicsky

Today's read: Y: The Last Man, Book One, by Brian Vaughan and Pia Guerra. Dang, what a read! Thrilling story with great characters. I love how flat the art style is. This could easily have been made super-gritty but I love it the way it is. I can't wait to get into the next one!

Yesterday's read: Daytripper, by Gabriel Ba and Fabio Moon. Beautifully illustrated book that feels like a more sombre Groundhog Day. Some scenes really hit me hard. Good reminder to go live your life.

Today’s read: Tamara Drewe, by Posy Simmonds. I read Cassandra Darke recently and enjoyed that. I almost gave up on this one but stuck it out. I enjoyed seeing the characters develop and I like Simmonds’s art.

So, Dredd... 🤯 How the heck did I sleep on this for 13 years?! If you like one-man-army movies, put aside that episode you were planning to watch tonight and watch this instead.

Today’s read: Geiger Vol 2. I really like this book. Tariq’s relationship with Barney is beautiful and the art is fantastic. Now that I’m caught up I’m diving into the singles ☢️

Today’s read: Daredevil Epic Collection Vol 12. Quite an uneven book with a few fillery stories. I’m surprised that they gave the cover to the Sabretooth story as that was a small part of it. My favourite storylines were Matt kicking off his law clinic and his growing relationship with the Fatboys.

Next up on the Infinity Saga rewatch with the kiddo - The Incredible Hulk. I finished this viewing with the same thoughts as when I saw it back in the day. Decent movie, but the pacing felt off. What is fun, after having seen Captain America: Brave New World, is seeing all the callbacks to this one.

After introducing my son to the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies, we've started watching the Infinity Saga from the beginning. And that meant watching Iron Man again, for the first time in 15+ years. Still holds up pretty well! Robert Downey Jr got Tony Stark immediately. Good stuff.

Is it just me, or is that…? Daredevil #237
March 1, 2025 at 1:22 PM
Today’s reading - Batman: The Killing Joke, another banger from Alan Moore, this time with Brian Bolland on art. I was surprised how slim it was given its reputation but the pages were filled to the brim. Awesome stuff.

I hear Mayor Quimby is going to have a Gold Card for rich folks who want to move to Springfield because they’ll bring in lots of taxes. And as we all know, rich people are well known for wanting to pay all their taxes.

I decided that I want to read a whole baking tray’s worth of comics and graphic novels this year. I just finished Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell’s From Hell. And, dang, that’s going to be hard to top. Amazing book that covers so much more than just the Jack the Ripper murders. Read it!

Finally saw Godzilla (1954) for the first time. In a cinema. It was pretty decent, especially for its age. The back third of the movie is strays all the way into really quite good #godzilla #cinema

I think I stumbled onto President Quimby’s playbook for the economy #money #economy #gold

Are we sure that the Mayans weren’t right and that reality actually ended in 2012?! We’re on a weird timeline and I keep waiting to wake up #conspiracy #2012 #omen

Dear residents of Springfield. This is your reminder to check your email regularly. If I had been a little less attentive I would have missed an important email from that Hutz’s law firm that would have ended up costing me tens of dollars! Phew. Time to celebrate with a frozen cookie 🍪 #inboxzero

Well, dang. Interview at Shelbyville Elementary didn’t go as planned. Got the lasagna started but then messed it up by baking for too long. Oh well #interview #yolo #lasagne

In other news, I’m exploring options outside of Springfield. Brockway, Ogdenville, North Haverbrook? Heck, even Shelbyville may be on the cards. This old gal has got to cook! #carpediem
