Enormous, completely unofficial, built by volunteers absent any safety or design requirements, usually on small patches of open ground in built up areas. Never mind the fire aspect, that fact that some of them don't collapse beforehand is a miracle - see picture.

Howard Kendall is proof that people aged in triple time in the 20th century. Here he is on TV in 1990, aged 44. I just asked my partner how old she thought he was in this photo and she said "maybe early 70s".

A colleague once used the brilliant term 'heroin-faced' to describe a former boss. Not alleging opiate use of any kind but just trying to summarise the whole sunken eyed / swallow cheeked / haunted / unshaven look that the bloke had.
