my long standing idea was that recovery compasses should just become soul compasses that link to other soul compasses upon interaction, so in essence linking to other players that consent.

the tradeoff is that these compasses are gatekept behind the ancient city, which isnt for everyone

deff interesting how it looks, i'm curious to see how it feels, and ultimately what they're doing with the XP bar like if it will swap between showing the XP bar and that bar.

i wonder how it might feel if the markers were to instead sit on the XP bar but slide over it

this being said, i would rather something be accessible and actually get used, rather than locking a mechanic behind gates that realistically more players won't bother with opening.

the idea is a huge positive, but the execution of the idea is something i'll have to continue to think on.

for whatever shortcomings people feel it had with how much (or little) depth was given to features/systems, I think the values they established were extremely solid and very well thought out.

(but I mean, the features are so cool too-- like, cherry blossoms, armor trims and archeology? 🤗)

Minecraft 1.20 opened up a broad landscape that could be painted into, ways for players to storytell, among a palette of other themes and features.

It will always stand to me as the physical and spiritual successor to 1.12, The World of Color Update.

But also, the update that changed *my* world.

Learning something is an irreversible journey as pen irreversibly writes onto paper.

As the storyteller, you get to control the arc you want the learner to follow and forever carve out in their mindscape. You design the twists and reveals.

Storytelling and education go hand in hand.

It's more than just delivering information, it's *how* you deliver it that matters. Teaching concepts with an arc that is like a story with a carefully crafted buildup, and channeling your passion through that arc, makes all the difference in impression.

there is a space for building with easy-to-access materials and simpler geometries, and that's what a lot of earlier Minecraft architecture was, and there's nothing wrong with it. it has it's own charm, and it might help lower the barrier for folks like me that get overwhelmed with all the details

and as a neurospicy perfectionist, i find it satisfying to be able to build things like calculated winding curved paths that naturally follow terrain, but simultaneously a barrier to task initiation or completion.

it actually looks really solid for the future-- its open source, decentralized, and they stand for very important values

Kesha is my absolute fave, and sets the mood for 2010-2012 for me

i need more of that music from her, i need her to take pop music this decade and run with it

while this isn't (currently) relevant for me in the Minecraft community, i have been generally interested in alternatives to the giant capitalistic platforms. i was curious recently if there were any good alternatives to insta/fb that arent something completely different

yeah, what folks need to think through are the implications of changing looks of blocks being used in builds and snow buildup.

the vanilla game has always existed on the basis of knowing upfront what you're getting when you build somewhere

seasonal flavored biomes already perfectly respects this
