In Utero, by Nirvana

Though I know some will disagree, I honestly think that Nevermind is unquestionably better than In Utero. To be clear - In Utero is a fantastic album, but it's so difficult to hold a candle to Nevermind. There also was only one stand-out song here, that being Heart-Shaped Box.

Nevermind, by Nirvana

Obviously this is one of the most influential albums of the last forty years - but not every album deserves that status.

This one does.

That's all.

The Unexplained, by Ataraxia, a pseudonym of Mort Garson

This album is incredibly weird but fantastic. It falls into a really interesting place historically - coming out less then ten years after the Moog Synthesizer was created, it still has effortless charm and a clear mastery of musical oddness.

Deadbeat, by Tame Impala

Unfortunately, this album is not even close in quality to Currents or even The Slow Rush. That is, of course, an extremely high bar; a bar that, nonetheless, was missed. There are some standouts - Dracula is quite good - but the album as a whole is a little disappointing.

So Tonight That I Might See, by Mazzy Star

Probably one of my top 20 albums of all time, and definitely a top 10 favorite album cover. Mazzy Star's work - this album in particular especially - fills a really specific niche for me; the softness is very well welcomed.

I-Empire, by Angels and Airwaves

Coming right off the heels of Crimson was a bit rough, but this album really shapes up about halfway through. Siren was by far the best song on the album, and the whole album felt like it did exactly what it wanted to in a really positive way.

Crimson, by Alkaline Trio

This album was really, really good. It was by no means perfect, but Time to Waste was such a fantastic opener that I paused it and replayed the first minute or so. It's definitely a bit cringe sometimes, but sometimes you just want to sing cringe music as loud as you can.

To Our Children's Children's Children, by The Moody Blues

God, this album was fantastic. I haven't listened to any of The Moody Blues yet, and didn't have super high hopes, but this album absolutely demolished my expectations. Absolutely stunning.

At The Beach, In Every Life (Extended), by Gigi Perez

This album is an interesting mix of really high highs and slightly disappointing lulls in between. While none of the songs are BAD, the excellence of Please Be Rude, Sailor Song, and Fable really overshadows the rest of the album.

Siamese Dreams, by The Smashing Pumpkins

Everything I liked about Adore, Siamese Dreams did better. It's tighter, every song is fantastic, and it all feels like The Smashing Pumpkins. None of the songs stood out from the rest for me, but only because EVERY song was just that good.

Adore, by The Smashing Pumpkins

I really enjoyed this album. None of the songs are quite as strong as Mellon Collie's best, but that's not saying much. I particular enjoyed "Pug", and feel like the album was well worth the t-shirt I got last week.

Wasteland, Baby!, by Hozier

In my opinion, this album succeeds at everything Unreal Unearth fails at. It's a quiet album, but it works and sounds so much better than UU. I would absolutely relisten to it. Also, the album cover is so much better.

Unreal Unearth: Unending, by Hozier

This album is good, albeit flawed. The highs are really high, like Francesca, but generally the lows are low. I don't love Hozier's quieter work, and this album is mostly comprised of that, unfortunately.

IGOR, by Tyler, the Creator

This isn't my first time listening to IGOR, but it gets better every time I listen to it. This album has so many standout songs I couldn't list them all, and it definitely falls in my top 5 hip-hop albums of all time. There's no bad songs, and it's his best work.
