the (hopefully permanent) solution this time was to reach out to a guy who goes by laserparts and have the gear recreated. i actually broke the first replacement gear (started it up in the wrong position), but got this second one in without issue. optimistic it should be all set. watching a star war

i like that you can pick up plants in this one. from what i recall, you never need to do so, and the only benefit is the joy of the action.

it's very cool to me that some discs display the letterboxed image towards the top of the screen so the subtitles never intrude on the picture. design!
