I've been experimenting with washi sticker paper, so for this outgoing postcard I made a thin washi tape and drew a cat that I saw on a sticker sheet by pion2015 on Instagram.

This Alexander Pushkin stamp - OMG! How sad!!!

"[Pushkin] lived like a boy, wrote like a boy, and died like a boy..." James Joyce / "Я всегда считал, что он жил как мальчишка, писал как мальчишка и умер как мальчишка." Джеймс Джойс.

Outgoing holiday postcard to Japan and inspiration behind it. Glossy paper is not great at taking colors so I tried colored and cut paper for the lights - had bits of mulberry paper around that I’ve been using for printmaking and was curious how it would take pencils.

There is a lack of holiday postcards in NYC so I was happy to stumble on this Rockefeller Center one. It is now on its way to Ireland via official Postcrossing. I do wish they would stop cutting down trees for Christmas - they are homes to so many creatures.

Received this adorable Japanese stamp! It is from the 2009 set called "60th Anniversary of Be Kind to Animals Week". The puppy is named Peach, a Shiba Inu from Kanagawa Prefecture.

Amazing incoming postcard that happens to be from my Postcrossing "favorites" list that I use as a wish list. I love sparrows and illustrations and this is a perfect combination of both. The postcard came from Russia and the artist is Alina Odinokova. And check out the stamps!

Time for mail art! Decorated the back of this postcard with my interpretation of Ilya & Emilia Kabakov’s angel plus made stamps with Etel Adnan’s abstraction and a shocked hedgehog clay figure from 3000-2000 BC. Used gold watercolor for the accents on the hedgehog.

Do you look forward to the USPS stamp announcement for an upcoming year? I certainly do. Last year, they announced a whole bunch of 2024 stamps at the end of October, so 2025 announcement must be coming up. (cont'd)

Latest incoming postcard. A friend just visited Scotland and sent me this wonderful Highland cows card from the Isle of Skye. The post office there did not have any stamps besides the regular Charles one. I wonder if that is typical of most post offices in the UK.

Received this wonderful 1974 Colombian stamp featuring Andean cock-of-the-rock (Rupicola peruviana). The stamp celebrates 100 years of the Universal Postal Union in Bern, Switzerland. Note the Droste effect in the design.

Now that the Seine is in the headlines due to the Paris Olympics, I want to share this great postcard I found recently - Henri Cartier-Bresson's "Sunday on the Banks of Seine, France" (1938).

Received my first maxicard featuring reed cat (Felis chaus). I love how funny the stamp looks like compared to the actual photo of the cat.

Today's Postcrossing incoming: great combination of stamps from Taiwan. Postcrossers do not cease to amaze me. This person sent a bunch of things including a whole packet of Taiwanese stamps! Can't wait to show you.

Love it when I get art postcards via official Postcrossing. This one came from Germany - George Dunlop Leslie’s “Roses” (c. 1880).

When 2024 US stamps were announced online, I did not consider purchasing this issue, but when I saw the actual stamp sheet in person at the post office, the great design stood out among others. And, contrary to the photo, the size is great for Postcrossing postcards.

Stamp inspired by Gustav Klimt’s flowers. It was just an experiment to see how paint will show on black background so composition is not great. Hope to do a better one next.

Was happy to stumble on this postcard by Naoshi, titled “My Aquarium.” While looking up the artist, I was surprised to find out how the original was made - using colored sand! Wow! Sent it to a friend who always sends me beautiful art postcards from her travels.

Just picked this up from the library. Saw Max Frei (Макс Фрай) mentioned in a Postcrossing profile and realized I've never heard of this author before. The books are part of various series. Not sure if this would be the right one to start with. I just picked it based on the cover. :)
