A young woman deals with an alcoholic mother and care for her younger sister, while trying to keep up her Maths studies and supermarket job. Smoothly written (I've never finished a German novel this fast) but the story felt a bit 'by the numbers'.

An introduction to the Deaf community in the Netherlands. Very informative and amiable, but in its aim to be as accessible as possible it sometimes felt like reading a kids' book with occasional academic terms.

Okay I know I said I needed to read more Emily Henry but now I regret that because this book felt... the same? Even though a lot of the details were obviously different, it had a weirdly formulaic vibe, especially in the male love interest.

I raced through this in less than 24 hours and I would die for Maisie and Phoebe

Ooooh these are so good. Tense, clever, occasionally laugh out loud funny in the *dryest* way, and the characters get to be such complicated imperfect shits. I love them. Can't wait to start the third book!

Returning WW1 soldier inherits a bookshop, it contains a secret, spy shenanigans ensue. This was a hoot, I love it when Charles blends m/m romance with a genuinely tense plot. Definitely going to get the rest of the trilogy now.

I've enjoyed previous books by Roberts, but this one didn't work for me. Too much technical discussion of how varous diseases work, not enough attention to the actual bones and their owner's lives.

Big celebrity does a tell all memoir in her old age, but if course not all is as it seems - like a less cynical Evelyn Hugo. This is my first Emily Henry and it made me giggle, shriek and cry so I guess I have to seek out more from her now.

Is the Temple of the White Rat universe my favourite fantasy universe? Possibly! I just love Kingfisher's idiosyncratic and mature heroines, cast of colourful supporting characters and sly humour. So obviously I enjoyed this a whole lot.

A train hurtles towards disaster in late 19th century France, as we meet its wide variety of passengers. It's charming and the final bit appropriately tense, but there are so many characters that I had a hard time telling some of them apart.

Phil is roped into a heist to steal a newly discovered species of orchid, but she falls for a gardener hellbent on protecting it. A very sweet slow burn, doing its darnedest to sell the madcap plot, and with a good portrayal of working class problems.
