Tumblr doesn't have timestamps but I remember when this post was made and some important context was that it came as a response to when one of the actors from Heartstoppers being harassed on Twitter for "being straight" and playing a gay character so he came out to make the harassment stop

I think that the idea is "if given the choice, a lot of parents upon finding out their child could be like mine, would opt to abort them instead of giving them a chance and I don't think that's fair"

I think that part of it was that the Harry Potter fandom at the time was able to flourish bc Rowling was one of the few authors who's attitude towards fanfiction was "i don't really care what fans do" and not "lawsuit time" or comparing writing it to white slavery
