Harley Quinn Popgun!
This one was for a friend's cosplay, and expansive collection of HQ merch.
It includes a moving hammer for "cocking" poses, as well as a cork on a string.
Made with wood flats, pvc pipe, cardboard tube, yog mat foam, and a collapsible antenna for the "BANG" flag.
The hammer is attached to one side of the wooden layers with a basic screw, so the popgun can be "cocked." The grip is yoga mat foam, cut and shaped to the wood underneath. Between each of the 4 fake bullet chambers is a playing card suite. But Harley always has a thing for Diamonds, so I included some on the sides near the grip. I built a custom display stand for this piece such that it will act as a stand, or as a wall mount. A basic wood & gold design with slot for the grip to sit, and a pole with a black and white twist leading to a jester hat that the barrel sits on. The flag is made from a t-shirt swatch, painted with acrylic paint. It rolls up around the antenna, which retracts past the barrel into the chamber, so the cork can go into it.

My 2nd project was much more ambitious- a Jurassic Park gate!
This one really challenged me, and taught me a lot of lessons.
Particularly the importance of making templates and blueprints. That sign nearly ended me! But I'm super proud of this piece. It hangs over the door to my garage now.
Stands about 19" tall. The doors open inward on little hinges. Did you know that the text font doesn't actually exist? I didn't! Had to draw it digitally, print it out, cover the paper with packing tape or sturdiness, and then use a hobby knife to cut the letters out individually in order to paint them. Twice, because of the double colors. But I'm super proud of how they came out.the doors, not so much. I installed some modified tea lights along the sides and on the tops to give it the accurate glow. Next time I do this, I'll just unstall a battery-packed set of fairy lights into one column. Midway through the process. I used "pavement" colored acrylic paint mixed with just a touch of gray for a more accurate stony look on the columns. I waaayy overstained the doors, attempting to add dimension.

My first project- Aku Aku from Crash Bandicoot!
Really just testing the waters with this one. Just a few shapes cut and glued. Acrylic paint (my go-to) and some wood stain. I left the teeth untouched, for a natural look. Currently hangs on the wall in my garage!
