Basically just saying I’d be shocked if a lawsuit was filed even in the next month or so. Very few issues warrant a lawsuit needing to be filed within days of the incident and for civil cases (like this) it is uncommon to file immediately. Lack of a lawsuit is not an indicator one way or another

I’m not commenting on the article’s content, but as a lawyer I will say it takes a LONG time to prepare a lawsuit. The statute of limitations varies by state for defamation btwn 1-3 yrs. Regardless it is extremely expensive to litigate even a case you are 100% in the right on, so many don’t.

While it is true the feed was tailored to the user, those posts were also wildly popular. It may be my FYP, but I can still see the number of views, comments, likes, shares, and saves. There are certainly many who will hail Trump as a hero, but 99% is a massive exaggeration

TikTok shop had some crap but it also had some really good finds. Very much like Amazon marketplace. I was always annoyed that videos tied to shop items were pushed so heavily, but TikTok shop was useful

My feed was flooded with videos from different creators pointing out Trump was the first to try to ban TikTok.

The fact Tencent got put on the Department of Defense’s list two weeks ago seems to have gone largely unreported. Reports that Tencent might fully buy Ubisoft has a lot more press. For reference, Tencent currently owns an 11% stake in Ubisoft.

Sure, Tencent might go divestment route, but either way US video game industry would be turned upside down bc Tencent owns stakes in a LOT of US gaming companies. Don’t forget Fortnite dev Epic is behind Unreal Engine too. Tencent owns btwn 30-40% of Epic and I believe is largest single shareholder

Nothing could happen, but I personally wouldnt put all my eggs in the basket of nothing happening. Huawei, also on the list, is banned from selling new communication devices in U.S. What if congress decides League of Legends is national security threat bc Riot is owned by a Chinese company?

Tencent was added to the DoD’s list of Chinese Military Companies two weeks ago so yeah, I’d put pretty decent odds they might be targeted.

Yes, because it is sooo easy to organize on heavily right leaning places like IG, YT, FB, and X. TikTok’s algorithm would push videos out regardless of size of account. That is not the case elsewhere. Those activists already used other platforms as well but TikTok ALWAYS got the most reach.

Don’t forget an app that a lot of activists used to publicize little covered injustices and to organize. But apparently it was just a dancing app. 🤦♀️

Yes, because I followed a LOT of political activists who used TikTok to publicize exactly this. TikTok news influencers skewed left where YT, IG, FB, and X skew right. Losing TikTok is massive blow to US grass roots activism. Funny how things can be intertwined & people can care about many things.

Same 😭 I already miss all my cattok mutual’s videos. My feed was generally 50% politics & current events, and 50% cattok giving me a much needed balance.
