TL;DR: Humans are inherently flawed and we fuck up a lot, up to and including betraying our principles. Along with that, the obsession with pointing out bad people is a form of punitive justice that is mostly meant to serve the accuser rather than correct the accused's bad actions.

This is actually a very interesting weakness of the modern far-right. Movements need martyrs, but martyrdom needs sincerity, and when you push sincerity too far on the internet, it hits the Boomer Threshold and becomes cringe. Then the edgy kids have no choice but to make fun of it.
