I'm a game developer and software engineer!
I can’t remember where I heard that tolerance is a contract. If you are tolerant of others, you are worth tolerating. If you don’t tolerate others, you are not worth tolerating. Don’t know why but that really resonated

Amazing! I will be keeping tabs 😄

This looks awesome! Though I have another question: what kind of game devs are you targeting? Singular developers who need a straightforward modelling tool that isn’t horrifically complicated is my demographic. Furthermore, would you consider adding very basic rigging (no animation) capabilities?

What kind of modelling tool is this going to end up being? Is there a specific niche or just general purpose?

Scrivener is one of those apps that makes it obvious once you get really into it that it’s been heavily battle tested. I have nothing but great things to say about it. Wrote a whole first draft in it. Best compliment I could pay it is that it got out of my way completely to let me do work

In a PURELY hypothetical scenario, if one were to procure a drill and some sugar and forcibly bypass the fuel cap, the sugar could take a fabulous bath in the tank. This would set up an adorable meet-cute with the engine on next ignition, ensuring there won’t be another.

While I dislike that he complains so much, he is trying to do something about it I guess with Jai. That being said, Odin has been released publicly and powers the JangaFX suite which are very complicated programs, proving that it is a viable alternative to C++

Well jokes on him, his review isn’t a roguelike. I really hope they find peace from whatever made them like that.

You had a great post on the hell site about it being a discrepancy between taste and competence. I used to struggle to put words on the page. With your wisdom, I dispensed with my taste and committed to writing garbage, as it’s all I’m capable of. Thanks Leena!

(Sincerely tho, this did help me ty)

Out of curiosity, do you know of other generalised techniques for procedural generation like wave function collapse that you think are worth exploring or do you think WFC has a lot of potential to be expanded on?

A friend showed it to me way back when it was still called Dyson and I absolutely loved it. Bought Eufloria when it was released and had a ball. Would definitely buy a sequel if one was made ☺️

My utter horror when I first tried Smalltalk to find out that there was no operator precedence and everything was LR

It's defenders probably experienced creativity for the first time using AI tools. They created art that met or exceeded their level of taste, albeit philistinic. I imagine that's why they defend it. The first time I created something that met my sense of taste, it was a rush, though I earned it

Yeah, that's a good point, you're right. Moderation should be a priority before going open. We still haven't solved moderation on social media in a way that doesn't burden users or traumatize moderation teams over time. Fixing that will be a huge step forward
July 14, 2023 at 11:44 PM
I will say though, social media cannot solve moderation without KYC. At the bare minimum, you should not be allowed to post without verifying a driver's license or passport, so that repeat offenders and bots cannot exist without exceptionally sophisticated circumvention

If this wasn't a transitory period of leaving twitter, I'd disagree. It's not a complete platform, and that was made clear enough. However, due to a large mass looking for a new place to call home in addition to bsky reaching a critical mass of users, I believe they now have a duty of care to uphold
