Reminds me of something I saw from the Bad Place when someone complained that there was no such thing as PTSD in the ancient times and someone replied "Yes because the Iliad began with Sing O Muse of the totally rational behaviour of Achilles."

From History Boys:

“The best moments in reading are when you come across something...that you'd thought special, particular to you. And here it is, set down by someone else, a person you've never met, maybe even someone long dead. And it's as if a hand has come out, and taken yours.”

cf. AE Housman:
He would not stay for me, and who can wonder?
He would not stay for me to stand and gaze.
I shook his hand and tore my heart in sunder,
And went with half my life about my ways.

Gods I wish he fucked around in France. At least a little bit.

While it doesn't resonate that much with my experience, I do get suckered into these things because of the silly fantasy of it all. The world will always welcome stories about attractive people simulating falling in love in spite of societal disapproval and other inconveniences, as time goes by.

What have you got against Paddington 2 - perhaps the greatest of all Paddingtons? 🐻

Also I did like Banshees but admittedly only watched it once.

This reminds me of the last piece of good news that came out in 2016:

Syrian children met a load of furries in a hotel and it was brilliant
So adorable.

That "but" is unnecessary. On the other hand, THAT butt is crucial.

And if we want to do the math Raymond was writing her bilge more than 45 years ago, railing against trans people. Where do the "gender criticals" think the people that repressed trashbag was maligning are now - did they all diminish and go to the west? No, they're here, older but here.

Being a volunteer at a LGBTQ+ space really allows you to see this - trans people who came out late in life or have lived as their genuine self for ages. It's a phrase that's been overused but we have, indeed, always been here. People just didn't look.

I approve of achievable and measurable goals. Who knows what power level the sea witch has and can she make the world peace that you want? At least you will know your arms are indeed bigger at the end of the bargain.

Oh so this is where Beyonce got the idea from for the Renaissance tour.

Sooo pretty and looks yum. 🥹

Ooh nice. 😋 I tried making the rolled pavlova for new years eve last year but using the preserved fruits in liqueur bought from the Christmas sale, worked a treat!

I'm afraid feeling like an adult is not an option for human-shaped golden retrievers. 🐶 You may get (virtual) headpats though.

Ah Sufjan Stevens. His genre is literally "what if you're a little bit religious, a little bit gay and a little bit sad?"

It was a brief glint of joy that was included in the trailers, saying "See these two are having fun! Don't you want these two to have fun? Watch our movie please."
December 4, 2025 at 5:55 PM
It's a good movie that probably has the unique position of featuring actors known for doing comedy in all the main roles in one of the most depressing plots I can remember.

This is definitely very supernatural-being-captured-on-camera coded.

Well yes but considering that ideology wise they're not that far apart, how else could Laura signal that she's still spreading her metaphorical legs for the Tories aside from dying on increasingly unreasonable hills?

Yes I too long for a young Nicholas Cage professing his love for me in the snow.

I always say that Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas is my favourite Christmas song partly because the title sounds like a curse.

Tangerine. A reminder that you don't need blood family to make Christmas stressful!
