I'm stressed so today I'm wearing my Audiobook shirt and listening to some out of this world adventures. If you haven't already tried librofm you should and you can use my link below. Not sponsored, but using the link gets me free audiobooks which makes me smile. libro.fm/referral?rf_...
This has been such a busy week, and definitely not the week to be nursing a sinus infection. House repairs are happening and had a busy weekend for Halloween and Birthdays. I have a million more things to do, but hopefully there’s some light at the end of the tunnel.

Are fan conventions doomed? NOOOOO!!! On @ouropinions.bsky.social, we talked to a ton of people who have run scifi cons and asked one burning question: how do we fix fan-run cons? Can we make them welcoming and economically sustainable, so they serve tomorrow's communities as well as today's?
We love science fiction conventions! Especially indie fan-run conventions. But... they basically haven't changed since the 1970s.

How could cons change for the 21st century? We talked to a host of con veterans about panels, venues, volunteers, etc.

POV opening the bookshop in Fall and there’s a brief pause in customers. It was a busy day, but a good time.

I really enjoy opening the bookshop Saturday mornings with all the smells and crowd of the Farmer’s Market. One of the few times I feel like I’m not just clocking in but contributing to the community.

This week knows exactly what it’s doing and shows absolutely Zero signs of remorse. If the Universe wouldn’t mind taking a break or just finding something more productive to do that would be great.

I am going through ild boxes and pulling out all the CDs I haven’t used in a while. It’s nice to go back and just listen to the whole album sometimes. I also realize I sound exactly as close to being 40 as I am. But still I like what I like and I’m ok with that.

I am now realizing I just don't read fast enough. I am now having to keep multiple lists. I have a list of Frontlist titles that I want to read before release, a list of backlist titles I really want to get to, and vintage titles I want to read. It's a good problem to have if a little stressful.

Morning Friends. I'm starting my morning with a little nostalgia and coffee. I found a Blu Ray of The Abyss and I've been dying to watch it again. I have been collecting more physical media lately been on the lookout for cds and blu ray. I even found a nice vintage Pioneer stereo.

Today needs to be done already. I am exhausted and I’m not even close to being done.

Bluesky. I should be reading my book, but playing around on my new computer sounds more interesting. Does anybody else ever just lack the Activation Energy to start reading. My book is even at a really interesting place so I have no idea why I just keep putting off reading.

After many years of being almost entirely on either a phone or a desktop I am officially back on a laptop again. This is a little different because I'm trying to make the latest version of Ubuntu my daily driver. So far I'm in love with how it functions and it's nice to be out of the Windows world.

Another great article from @mollytempleton.com. I have been talking to people at the bookstore about my love of Mass Market forever. Loved packing these in my bag two or three at a time no matter where I was going. Such a great entry to ownership for young readers. reactormag.com/we-all-miss-...
