Without this, we risk losing any influence in future elections and redistricting.

But with it, we can not only defeat this redistricting — we can reshape Texas politics for the better.

The time to fight is now.

How Democrats can fight back against Republican redistricting in Texas
Texas Democrats need to back candidates who can win these congressional races.

There is a path forward, but we have to act.

We must:

✅Speak plainly and urgently about what the GOP is doing.
✅Build the bench of candidates and staff to jump into newly created districts.
✅And build an infrastructure that can maintain pressure year-around.

Republicans are scared of losing their majority in 2026 because their agenda is unpopular.

Now is the time for Democrats to face the moment head on.

If we want to defeat GOP attacks, we need bold, strategic coordination — starting now.

We can’t keep calling disasters “unexpected” when they keep happening.

Texans deserve emergency plans that actually work — and leaders who show up before it’s too late.

Texans deserve emergency plans that work — and leaders who act | Opinion
Government isn’t meant to do everything, nor should we want it to. But there are some things it absolutely must do and do well — especially when lives are on the line.

The bottom line: Texas isn’t just an opportunity — it’s a necessity.

Dems can invest now or play catch-up later.

But the road to the White House? It runs through Texas.

Opinion | Democrats no longer have the luxury of losing Texas
A changing electoral map means Texas is a must-win state for the Democratic Party.

We can’t treat Texas like a one-cycle bet.

Dems need a real, multi-cycle strategy — like what worked in AZ, GA, & VA. Candidate recruitment. Research-informed messaging. Staff training. Serious investment.

That’s how we win — and John Cornyn agrees:

2026 could be a turning point.

If Ken Paxton runs for Senate, Texas Republicans will be stuck with a scandal-ridden, deeply unpopular candidate at the top of the ticket.

That’s an opening. But only if we’re ready.

2024 showed both the challenge and the opportunity. Colin Allred outperformed Kamala Harris –– especially in the Rio Grande Valley.

That means Latino voters are persuadable.

But only if we show up.

And only if there's major investment into the state.

Here’s why Texas is different:

If Dems win Texas, Republicans cannot win the White House. Full stop.

Texas has 40 electoral votes now — likely 44 after 2030.

When Democrats win Texas, that’s the ballgame.
April 16, 2025 at 6:30 PM
In 2020, Georgia and Arizona were a key part of Democrats’ victory.

But even if we win there again, they don’t close the gap.

We need a new path to the presidency.

And Texas is the only state big enough to change the game.
April 16, 2025 at 6:30 PM
The states that carried Dems for years — MI, PA & WI — are losing electoral votes.

By 2032, even if we win them all, it still won’t be enough for 270.

The math is shifting. And @democrats.org need to shift with it.

Through the Agave Fund and Texas Public Opinion Research, I'm focused on holding current statewide elected officials accountable.

Texans deserve leadership that fights for them every day.

I'm grateful for the chance to keep pushing Texas forward — together.
