Also I haven't been on Digimon for a long time and my only exposure was Digimon Tamers and a small portion of the first Digimon. It's great for new players to jump right in

I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's mostly a new story and experience so you will be fine. At most you will see new Digimon with the old ones too
