Yeah and that is the price tag, I don’t think many people recognise that eventually you’re gonna be traumatised anyway so combat it while you can, and do what you can. You may very well be built different to handle more of stress from fascists but Christ I’m tired 🤣

Even if you didn’t want to call it a “Muslim ban” this time round to please the sensitive right wing MAGA nowadays… it still seems pretty selective a group? Especially you know considering a few of them DEFO are relevant humanitarian wise…

DOGE is like the welfare fraud department but against the department itself - and seriously call that efficient and that it’s trimming bureaucracy? When everyone knows welfare fraud is a waste of time over say… tax evasion/avoidance

Of course they work, but at what cost? They don’t work if preservation of morality is concerned and that’s something that everyone should care about, but realistically they don’t.

If there wasn’t civility we wouldn’t be the better people. There wouldn’t even exist the progress we have made today for LGBT+ people. A better world shouldn’t be built upon cruelty and hatred by anyone.

Also, if not being nice and open, do you expect people to change their views through condemnation? Cancellation? That won’t work. It just ignites fear and in their mind justifies their viewpoint. That isn’t helpful, it just offers a negative feedback loop of hate

I agree it is out there, it’s great that it is, what concerns me is the mass viewpoint that someone is transphobic for simply asking to be educated. You’re right they’re going to be uncomfortable, but nothing is gained through antagonism, only more hatred, which we don’t want.

I don’t doubt the trans people you know do, in this case, when someone asked to be educated, she was berated, no? That is my understanding. Only educating selectively isn’t going to help, where as educating openly, will. Providing people with direction is better than letting another take the lead.

In her viewpoint she’s defending her friend who wants to support women, but she doesn’t see that JK in “supporting” women is also threatening women’s rights. She asked for education on it and got chastised. That was wrong, the presenter should’ve calmly explained to her.

I agree transphobia should be condemned, although it is clear that people are more complicated than that. We are born and raised with different viewpoints, fears and aims etc. I don’t think she was condoning transphobia, I think what people like Dawn want to understand is — what is/isn’t transphobia

We cannot simply expect people to change their views with a click of our fingers. It requires discussion, understanding and empathetic values. It requires conversation, not berating. Because then it just becomes us vs them.

Of course it’s not up for debate that they they should be able to live their lives, what is up for debate is how we go about this to support both trans people, traumatised trans people and cis women who are clearly traumatised and have deep rooted mistrust for their own reasons.

A good person can commit cruel deeds. Saying JK is a good person isn’t wrong. Shes clearly misled in her viewpoints. Condemning her as evil will only push her to further that viewpoint. Nor did Dawn French ever say she hated trans people.

She isn’t a terf, she asked to be educated& was ignorantly told no she should educate herself. We can’t expect people to keep up to date when they have too much going on in their own lives. Also, she knows JK personally, she’s trying to be diplomatic while also asking for discussions on the subject.

Tbh everything begins in political/ideological debate. Dawn French doesn’t hate trans people,nor does she condone it. She just simply said to chastise someone for asking to be educated is wrong. We shouldn’t chastise, we should openly educate, not berate. Otherwise, how do we seriously expect change
