In the same way the Chrome folks were totally within their rights to say "err, maybe don't depend on this endpoint directly from your libraries/apps" - don't blame them because they announced a change to that endpoint coming up several months ago and you failed to respond at all.

Honestly pretty shocked at the apps that decided that using this single-maintainer open source NO WARRANTY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED project to mediate connections _to their own API backend_ was a good idea.
