Interesting question. There are times and cultures where social issues have been better on one vector but not so much on others. I prefer to clutch at the belief the future will be better on all fronts. Self-delusion is the secret to happiness.

If we stop labeling, people might actually be able to see each other, and concepts like gender and sexuality would become unnecessary.

People's ostensible need to label in binary terms mystifies and frustrates me. Why must our lives conform to a psychological convenience? Tear down the whole system; there's nothing worth saving.

I see internal sexuality conflicts on 2 planes: understanding and accepting. Some have shifting or ambiguous sexualities. I think stories with characters in touch w/ their sexuality help break the stereotype that we're all conflicted about our desires.

Your perspective interests me because it's opposite my own. I believe fiction needs conflict, so I'm wondering if your characters face only external conflict over their sexuality or no sex-related conflict?

Awhile ago, I read or heard that writers must be good observers. Unfortunately, no one told me before I got hooked that the observation included myself.
