FWIW I guess I could be talking nonsense though - 16 years later the only memory I have from that careers event is the "lethality engineer" anecdote. And that's because so many of us found it obscene.

Well, yes, I agree! But I think there's something about the word being less frequently used with general audiences that makes it feel a bit "cleaner", for now, at least.

Back in 2009 at a recruitment event in the physics department a missile producer was advertising for "lethality engineers". These kind of euphemistic weasel words always remind me of George Carlin's skit on soft lanauge: youtu.be/h67k9eEw9AY?...

You'll be:

- developing DA schemes to integrate heliospheric imager data into heliospheric numerical models.

- using DA constrained simulations to study the heliospheric evolution of Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs).

- applying this knowledge to improve CME forecasting at Earth and elsewhere.

Past a certain age I've found that schedules and habits tend to mean that at any point in the week there is a singular solution to the who/where conundrum!
