The problem with atonement theology is that this guy’s point isn’t wrong. Believers do apologetic acrobatics to wriggle free and call this guy crazy, but there’s no real way around it. Unless, of course, you throw the whole thing aside and realize it’s a messed up story at its very core.

If an actual assassin would kill a President, then a stooge would kill an onlooker. Smack the ear. Hook the story. Hold your breath until things sparkle in your eye and it makes perfect sense.
Not saying that happened, but it would sell in a movie.

It feels worth noting, that’s precisely why they hijacked Christianity—when people are already conditioned to wholeheartedly believe in an improbable unseen, even a halfwit can sell them honeyed lies.
