I have a wonderful shitpost that this margin is too narrow to contain
I don’t think any messages Pluribus has on groups were designed with an ideological intent/coherent meaning because it’s a story focused on individuals and the space bug is a plot contrivance to that end. It is interesting imagining the story if the infected were just some guy.

iirc there’s an interview where he mentions the original premise being about “the happiest person on earth” not the unhappiest. It’s easy to imagine how developing the ensemble would lead to inverting these two.

Being an incorrigible skirt-chaser even when married and possible low-grade sexual harasser? Bad! Not the same as being a pedophile!

Being close with industry lobbyists? Bad! Not the same as taking bribes!

The flattening of grey areas with outright evil is unironically part of why we got Trump.

I’m just saying Jon, we’ve never seen tom waits and a data center in the same room before have we?

It looks like it's been scrubbed from every official 60 Minutes page now.

It's only a 30-second promo but here it is if you didn't get a chance to see it.

I believe this is what the kids call “creating a new account” after quitting social media for several years.

you ask me to find sub(structure), I mumble something something clopen.

I always took it as “not in the spirit of the problem.” Most often degenerate cases, but then you have things such as locating zeroes of the Riemann-zeta function.

I’d have to read up a bit more on the original model to understand the approximation. The growth rates make sense if time is already normalized, but ideally only 1 should be normalized when converting.

My gut feeling is this is wrong because t^6 grows faster than t^4 yet we’d expect the condition satisfying less mutations would occur more rapidly. There is also the issue of using the same value of D for all three cases. My guess, is there needs to be a conversion for t/rescaling the constant.

The US has this really weird system where 2-year colleges are often used to make up for deficits in primary education and thereby obscuring them in the process. The fact CA had an equivalent, streamlined path for their flagship schools is only revealing this fact.

imo I think the problems with primary education are more widespread but California has the distinction of making it directly observable through their policy decisions.

It’s not a particularly clever slight-of-hand to address one issue with crypto (making it wastes electricity) without addressing the others (where/how it gets its value in finance).

The way the scam works is people exchange money for minted crypto and hope that as the scarcity of crypto increases (task to make gets harder) the value of the asset appreciates before they dump it.
December 15, 2025 at 2:44 PM
I don’t think you get how crypto scams work. They are not taking money from the people who “earned” it, it’s a tool for speculators on an inherently worthless asset. Even if the work going into making crypto has utility, crypto does not. Trump/Elon/etc are trying to get people to invest in junk.
