On display in the Geneva science museum is Mallet’s membership certificate from the St Petersburg academy - I was fascinated to see that Euler signed as secretary.

The Polish embassy in Dublin marked the ending of Poland's presidency of the EU council with a lovely concert last night featuring four nocturnes by Field and Chopin paired with newly composed pieces reflecting each of the nocturnes.

It's James Clerk Maxwell's birthday today (13th June) - I was surprised and unreasonably proud to discover that my grandfather attended his lectures in the Cavendish in 1871. If you are wondering he was born in 1850 and my father in 1907 - the generations are very spread out.

I took part in the march through Dublin today against the ongoing breaches of international law in Gaza and the occupied territories. Good to see a large turnout including one Jewish group.

First time I’ve been out canvassing in a general election (for Ossian Smyth, my local Green candidate). Fingers crossed! It was cold and wet last night on the final canvass.
