Ik kreeg van allerhande kanten de vraag wat ik van het Deltaplan AI vind. Er is al heel wat over gezegd, en veel zinnigs ook, fijn! My two cents bij deze. De wereld is gedurende mijn 25 jaar in de informatica flink veranderd, en nerds zijn in die tijd enorm machtig geworden. Informatici en hun algoritmes bepalen welke muziek we luisteren, welk nieuws we lezen, wie we daten, en ga zo maar door. Het woord "tech" betekende ooit technologie, maar nu bedoelen we er vooral softwarebedrijven mee. Een "techie" is geen ingenieur, maar een programmeur. Maar hoe denken informatici eigenlijk, wat vinden ze belangrijk, waar gaan ze voor, wat voor kennis hebben ze over de wereld? Je zou dat de epistemologie van de informatica kunnen noemen—als je dat woord tenminste kent, ik heb het tijdens mijn studie of promotie in de informatica nooit gehoord–. Het is tegen wil en dank mijn onderzoeksonderwerp geworden. Ik ben in mijn denken sterk beïnvloed door een paper over het bestuderen gletsjers. Want daarin krijgen hoge bergen veel meer aandacht dan laaggelegen dorpsgletsjers. Onderzoek doen in moeilijke omstandigheden, dáár krijg je immers status van, en een goed verhaal. Een beetje scharrelen in een dorpje, dat kan iedereen. En dus wordt dat, tegenstrijdig genoeg, niet gedaan. Ik denk dat dit denkframe nuttig kan zijn in het begrijpen van welke dingen wel en niet in het plan staan. Lees verder op mijn site: https://lnkd.in/esbhseiB

The most amazing thing about this remarkable 2002 car commercial is that it didn’t seem to realize at the time, or perhaps didn’t care, how effectively it made the point that cars and car infrastructure are a HUGE waste of space in cities.
