70) Sodor Reading Between the Lines: 20th Anniversary edition - It's good to see there's still life in the series yet, and Christopher Awdry's passion shines through. One can only hope this book's success will lead to renewed interest from the publishers, but if not, it's still nice to have.

69(nice) Digital Monster X-Evolution - I was hoping this would explain the whole X-antibody thing and while it sort of does it's in that "these characters already know what's going on and you have to pick it up as you go along" way, which has it's pros and cons.

68) Chainsaw Man (dub) - Yeah it's peak. Funny, horrifying, and sexual in a weird offbeat way that really resonates with me. I know some of the stylistic choices for the adaptation were controversial but I enjoyed it as is.

67) Digimon Frontier (sub) - I don't have a problem with the humans becoming Digimon premise but the series does have issues regarding pacing, character, and messaging, that tend to get worse as it goes. There's some bright spots but it's definitely the weakest series so far.

66) Digimon Frontier: Revival of Ornismon (sub) - I appreciate this movie trying to do a "war is bad" story but the visual of the dead Digimon popping into colourful eggs, while lore accurate, kinda robs the concept of any actual weight.

65) Spy x Family Season 2 (dub) - The cruise ship arc is the series at it's best so far, with really compelling tension, action, and drama, the episodes around it are good too, (particularly the Damian one) but that arc is the star os the show.

64) Spy x Family Part 2 (dub) - I'm of 2 minds about these episodes, on the one hand after Bond is introduced I can feel the pacing start to stagnate, but also we are getting more in-depth into the characters so It's not too bad, plus the series is still incredibly cute.

63) Digimon Story: Time Stranger - There's a few rough edges, but it's such a fun time feeling like you've stepped into the a Digimon anime. Everything about the world, the characters, and the story is so well done.

62) Spy x Family: Part 1 (dub) - It's just cute man. It's a bit of a slow start getting all the pieces in place but I don't care because everyone's so fucking adorable.

61) Metal Cardbot S (sub) - This is just a nice followup to the first season, slightly improved in basically every way, better action, better designs, and a better plot. It's not too different but the definition of "if you liked S1 and want more this is for you."

60) Mobile Fighter G Gundam (sub) - So obviously there's a ton of over-the-top goofy fun here but it's done incredibly earnestly. This show does still tackle a lot of the same themes as other Gundams, just through a very different filter. I kinda wish we got more like it.

59) Digimon Story: Time Stanger Prelude - this short is amazing at being able to cram so much emotion into such a brief runtime, I think even without the context of the game it'd still make me tear up. Also Justimon is the coolest guy I've ever seen in my life.

58) One Battle After Another - A really good comedy action thriller that feels like it could be an important radicalising text if hyou don't already agree with most of what it's saying like I do.
October 18, 2025 at 5:11 PM
57) Dr. STONE: Science Future Part 2 - IMO, this arc is where the story peaks, and I was legit tearing up several times. Dr. Stone is ridiculously underrated in general tbh.
October 9, 2025 at 8:46 PM
56) Kamen Rider Gavv - A good mix of classic structure and concepts, with modern and really strong character and relationship writing, I'm glad I decided to get back into tokusatsu when I did.

55) The Enigma of Amigara Fault - What is wrong with Junji Ito? (complimentary)

(Also no prizes for guessing why I read this when I did)

54) Steven Universe: Season 1a -Looking back on these episodes with hindsight is interesting. There's obviously some growing pains and not everything perfectly lines up with where the show would end up but that kinda suits a show all about growth and change.

53) Digimon Adventure 02: Digimon Hurricane Landing!!/Transcendent Evolution!! The Golden Digimentals (discotek dub) - Same as the other two of these dubs. A fun novelty for dub fans that preserve the original spirit of theses movies, though I think some nuance gets lost in translation.

52) Digimon Survive - Yeah this fuckin' rules. Basically taking the premise of Digimon Adventure and milking it for all the horror you can get away with makes for a top tier experience. Can't speak much to the combat mechanics since I play on easy mode but I'm here for the story.

51) Superman (2025) - It's fun how obvious this film is a reaction to Man of Steel, going out of it's way to zig where that film zagged. This is mostly a good thing because MOS sucks ass and this is far more enjoyable, but there are some ways I think it overcorrects too much.
July 29, 2025 at 8:15 PM
50) Fire Force: Season 3 (dub) - idk if there's much to say about tis particular season, it kinda felt like it was just starting to ramp up when it finished, definitely feels like it suffered from being split they way it was.
July 17, 2025 at 4:53 PM
49) Mashin Creator Wataru - I was pretty cynical about this show at the start, but it really managed to grow on me. There's actually quite a lot of heart hear and a nice, if simple, message about the importance of positivity that really meshes with the whole concept.
July 15, 2025 at 11:34 PM
48) I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire! - God the actual dreck that I'll watch just because it has mecha in it and maybe messed up sex stuff. The worst thing though is how none of that stuff is even that good, the show's mostly just boring.
July 15, 2025 at 10:06 AM
47) My Hero Academia: Vigilantes (dub) - There's a lot I like about this series, like how the cast has a real sense of community about them that builds up over time, everyone's likeable (for the most part) and it just has fun vibes, despite some uncomfortable elements.
July 15, 2025 at 9:31 AM
46) Phineas and Ferb: Season 1 - Disney Channel was streaming the season on a loop on Youtube and I ended up catching every episode. It's fun watching the show figure itself out, which jokes and dynamics did and didn't stick around.
