I appreciate all the people recommending the Shock Doctrine. I've been thinking about what makes Trump's use of these tactics a little different.

As a politics writer I know that the legitimisation of fascism & it's symbolism remains a vital step in sanitizing its appeal and reach. The Olympic Games brochure 1936 (I own a copy) is one powerful example. The inauguration this week was targeted for use in a similar way. #elonmusk #inauguration

I can't believe that in my lifetime, I've seen the richest man in the world give a Nazi salute at a US Presidential inauguration, leading up to his gifted white house position and own department in the government.
