Been reading the brilliant Empireland by @sathnam.bsky.social. This particular page struck how eerily similar Britain’s response to the Indian Mutiny was to today’s Israeli response to Oct 7. In 1857, there was brutal massacres & summary executions of leaders & civilians.

Highly recommend this book “The Crusades Through Arab Eyes” by Amin Maalouf. Today’s Arab world is eerily familiar to the state it was in almost 900 years ago. The prologue in particular is quite powerful. Amazing how history repeats itself…
