Birds, moths and general wildlife. Mainly local these days, Lufbra 10k including Swithland Reservoir, but still interested in my old haunts like Yorkshire, south Devon and west Cornwall. Leics/Rutland now, list 275 post Avilist, with 238 self-found.
Weird photo effect on the Black-throated's bill ?

Looks OK but not conclusive due to your lack of views of the wings.

Not often I have a go in November but tonight looks promising here - wind dropping a bit, 14C, cloudy but dry.

Not Britain's first Mourning Dove, but England's.

Round here (north Leics) there has been an obvious second brood of Swallow-tailed and smaller ones of Muslins and Uncertains. Plus a lot of late records.

I'm in my 21st year of trapping here and have never had Clifden Nonpareil or Pink-barred Sallow.

I paid out over £5000 for a commercial tour which supposedly targetted Hooded Grebe but never saw it.

I found that one. Jan/Feb 1993, and not really a 'spanking' male, a bit scruffy. It took a while to be confirmed as people then were not really au fait with the species.

Tony Plummer showed me what he thinks is another, from his Quorn garden this morning. Along with a very gripping Clifden Nonpareil.
