S or Z, both meanings survive 😂. The writer Pessoa called language a homeland and Borges saw universes in each variation. As a Brazilian without a “z,” I believe true greatness lies in embracing multiplicity, not uniformity.

It seems that, for many Americans, a country is only “great” if it mirrors US-style power politics. Brasil, however, is not seen as an enemy by any nation. Our role is not domination, but cooperation in building a global community.

It is puzzling to hear Brasil described as “small.” The country is geographically larger than all of Western Europe, home to more than 200 million citizens, and consistently ranks among the world’s top ten economies.

When tariffs were imposed, it was not Brasil that felt the immediate sting, but American consumers facing higher prices for coffee and beef. Brazil’s influence in food security, energy, and global trade is undeniable.

It is puzzling to hear Brasil described as “small.” The country is geographically larger than all of Western Europe, home to more than 200 million citizens, and consistently ranks among the world’s top ten economies.
