Yeah, if you can fix it without changing the mechanics then great (and it's much more elegant).

One thing to playtest is if people who try the exploit can accept why it doesn't work. If the "rules of the game" aren't clear, then it could be annoying.

It depends if there's a clear narrative to the fight. If the music or environment changes, then I will feel like I'm making progress.

If it's just the same fight repeating, then it starts to feel like a dead end.
