It’s also worth pointing out that under UK law, firing someone for involvement in a trade union is ILLEGAL.

The only reason given by Rockstar was a private discord server used by Rockstar employees for…union organising. See image below for reasons something might be unfair dismissal.

Any London based game devs out there, I think this would be an important demo to show up to if you can.

The UK industry has to show Rockstar and Take Two higher ups that union busting will not be tolerated.

Doesn’t get much better than you and the cat playing silksong together

Rainbow season has kicked off in style here! 🌈

A kind of under-rainbow but triple!!

How I tend to work is with one hand, whilst little Gertrude climbs into my arm and demands chin scritches and belly rubs.

Started Logic Bombs last night and it's a real delightful puzzle game. Scratches the same itch as Clues by Sam. The tutorial levels give only a tiny bit of information and they really rely on familiarity with nonograms and solving solutions in other logic puzzles. Highly recommend!

The spreadsheet in question. Definitely some things to optimise from a readability standpoint. Like what the difference is between a unit starting with inherent buff versus an ability trigger which applies additional stacks of buff.

Part of creating that muscle memory is experimenting across the different rules and constraining yourself in some ways.

But each time I come back to how purposeful the design of the original puzzles were. They are so specific in what they teach and that effort sings out from the game.

I've been practicing making LOK puzzles for the last few weeks in preparation for making a video on how to make and design LOK puzzles.

Part of this practice is just creating a muscle memory of different solving and design techniques. Part of it is analysing existing puzzles and why they work.

I'm still annoyed at the idea of these AI bros who don't really care about the craft of making games. The time and effort I've spent to just PRACTICE out of a love of game design is so important to me.

The practice itself is enjoyable! All of these puzzles, riddles, levels, systems are important

Tonight’s double rainbow 😁

I messed up taking the photo but if you squint you can make out a lovely Trainbow! (Rainbow seen on a train)

Nice winter rainbow this morning 😃

Finally I've really been enjoying News Tower by Sparrow Night. Still in early access but it's transported me right back to management/strategy games of the late 90s/early 2000s. It makes me want to dive into the system design of it in a video to show how it's layering everything so well!

Metaphor: ReFantazio by Atlus. I love a good JRPG and Atlus has some of the best pacing around between distinct sections in their games. When most RPGs allow you to explore everything, having the player commit to a time constraint on each action they take makes for such great optimisation in play!

Botany Manor by @balloonstudios.bsky.social is so lovely. I just enjoy everything about it! Such a nice pace, puzzles that hit that sweet spot. Manages to conjure the feeling of Rita Orlov's design in Emerald Flame.

FFVII Rebirth by Square Enix. I'm a simple man at heart: give me Final Fantasy content and I will love it. The mechanical differences per character were cool to see and the summon bosses were so difficult!

Dubio by @ajkolenc.bsky.social and @richardboeser.bsky.social is a real delight. It's such a wonderful mix between platformer and puzzle game. My partner and I have been entranced by what it's able to do with such simplicity!

Thought I'd jump in with my favourite games this year. In no particular order:

Nine Sols by Red Candle Games is so beautiful! There's a precision in its combat that's so difficult to get right and everything from its hub area to exploration is such a treat

On the flight back from London today we saw what’s termed as a Glory. Looks like a circular rainbow! Stunning! Never seen that before! With @salmikawolf.bsky.social

(fyi I take pictures of rainbows anytime I see them and try to share them because they are just awesome!)

Top two haven’t changed in 5/6 years. I need to listen to some more music 😅
