That's unfortunate, because this was really painful

Everything old is new again. I just didn't think we were talking phrenology and physiognomy

either way. it feels churlish to talk shit on ai with people who are so enamored of it. because they are SO excited. it also makes me wonder if i am missing something. SHOULD i be excited for the water-guzzling, creativity-stealing, truth-destroying slop monster?
November 17, 2025 at 6:41 PM
any particularly amusing nuggets of slop?
November 17, 2025 at 6:37 PM
it boggles my mind that so many people are gleefully engaging with ai tech, all for the sake of convenience. AI is dismantling truth, stealing data, and robbing people of critical thinking skills while rewarding us with slop. but like, maybe there is a place for it? like arsenic and blood cancer?
November 17, 2025 at 6:36 PM
but my gut reaction is that it is, overall, unnecessary and dangerous technology. it is terrible for the environment for one. and two, there's the blatant plagiarization of art and creativity. and three, now i can't trust cute cat videos! that is unforgiveable.

i appreciate that you have strong feelings about ai. i'm still grappling with my opinions of it. i feel like there is a place for it, like bulk data review in science-type scenarios. and i do know people for whom it has made their work easier.
