I can’t understand a lot of the rage Nintendo has been getting recently. Yes their games are expensive. Yes they fiercely guard their IP. But they also don’t engage in mass lay offs, value their developers, push back against AI, and when Iwata was CEO he halved his own salary, unheard of today.

Man the Mario Galaxy games are truly something special. Like yes they are both platformers par excellence, but they also approach the sublime. Just two beautiful little fairy tales.

Someone I used to work with many years ago is now publishing Substack articles that treat m anti-semitism (read: pro Israel, anti Palestine) as related to your gut microbiome and a troubled childhood. Aside from how incredibly stupid this is, it’s crazy dangerous to pathologize political ideology.

One thing I love about the characterization of Indy in the new Indiana Jones game is how much he just wants to sit and listen to stories about other cultures and their history. Well, that and his flagrant hatred of Nazis. 10/10 on that front.
