You know when your brain feels full of too many different things all vibrating & jumping about, like a kettle that's been whistling on a stove for hours & you feel like it could burst open at any moment & make a big mess all over the walls? That.

Really enjoyed painting these little compositions on paper! I love working on such a small scale too - there's something so inviting and intimate about tiny art!

My studio was out of bounds for a couple of months after a roof leak, but I'm finally back to work!

I've recently been enjoying the simplicity of these coloured pencil compositions, both in terms of their minimal content and the materials used - Three pencils and a sheet of crisp white paper.
Also love the contrast of the detailed study followed by the uncomplicated circles of pigment.

Yesterday's painting felt like standing on the edge of a rabbit hole. Like I'd explored a bit at surface level but there was much more to it. I haven't felt like that in a while - I don't particularly really know where it's going, but it feels good wanting to go back in for more!
