Taking a couple of weeks away from @brusselsbioarch.bsky.social for fieldwork at @sedgefordarch.bsky.social in Norfolk! Our human remains volunteers have made an excellent start so far and I will be spamming updates as we go 😊💀💀
George, our anatomical model skeleton, is stood in at the Church of St Mary the Virgin in Sedgeford where human remains is based. He appears to be shrugging with his right arm. Some of our admin tables are visible behind him. He is excited for the wonderful osteology we will get to record this year.

It's been a week since I passed my viva and became Dr Koster (pending minor corrections)! The most exciting part was of course my excellent long cist cake by the wonderful @whatkatiedigs.bsky.social

Me laughing as I cut my celebratory cake. I am wearing grey trousers, a pink shirt with ammonites on it, and a black velvet waistcoat, and my blonde hair is back in a bun. The cake is on a table in a bright room. It has fondant long cists (stone-lined graves) with mini skeletons in it, and green grass around them. There are other people around celebrating.

Finally have a #HillfortsWednesday contribution! Caer Bran on the Penwith peninsula in Cornwall from the family walk yesterday, featuring views of the sea from all sides

Chaos occurring in the Koster household! Cornish cream tea with Welsh jam on Dutch oliebollen 🤣 Happy New Year!
A Dutch doughnut, called an oliebollen, cut in half on a counter. It has jam and cream on it (jam first, the Cornish way!) like a scone for cream tea. It looks messy and is surprisingly delicious

There is a book open in a handy pink book holder on my lap. The postcard I use with a cartoon stegosaurus is the background, and some of the living room is visible. The book is written in French.

Hi, I'm Lucy! I'm an #archaeologist specialising in human #isotopes, #aDNA, and #osteoarchaeology, and I've just submitted my PhD thesis at the University of Aberdeen! I'm also a supervisor with sedgefordarch.bsky.social, and cat mum to Smokey and Viktor.
Lucy is her aDNA lab gear. She is wearing a white hazmat with a hood, a blue hairnet just visible, and a mask. You can tell that she is smiling (just!) from her eyes. She is in front of a door which leads into the lab.
