The numerous retakes are often cited as part of the notorious behind-the-scenes challenges during filming though context is key. Understanding what everyone was going through - the private stresses, strains, and pressures - helps shed light on why those days unfolded as they did #NobodysPerfect

Tony Curtis later remembered her reacting with fury – shouting obscenities about Hopper and her so called friends. It felt like a particularly stinging betrayal. That it was Curtis who had confirmed to Hopper that he believed she was pregnant added to the conflict on set.

This has been on my wall (in various houses obviously) since 1993 and today have just finished 76,000 words about Some Like It Hot- it’s filming and its legacy. Pooped but happy!

I work full time so my research/writing time is very much reserved for early mornings and evenings. Today am looking forward to delving into this as am researching the MGM makeup department and the use of toxic ingredients - in this case copper and aluminium.

One of the best things about writing books is when you get invited to the places to talk about them. In March I went to Harwell - the old Atomic Energy Research Establishment - and got to visit some very special nuclear bits and bobs. No pics coz classified but a great day!
