Genuinely so curious what the point of this is. Do you think if we agree that Thomas Jefferson is a bad person, the country falls apart? Like if we hurt his feelings from beyond the grave, he's going to take away the Declaration of Independence and we're going to have to start over?

For some reason I'm really struck by Mamdani saying (more or less) "people voted for both of us because they're worried about affordability." It's true, but where M means "and I'm going to help those people, unlike you," Trump hears "we agree on this issue"

My fifth-grade teacher showed us what happens when you use Vaseline with condoms, which was both a good thing to learn and a great example of how sometimes you can just tell people about stuff that will help them, even if it's as awkward as talking to a bunch of 11-year-olds about sex

It *is* the kind of job where you learn a whole lot about legal requirements around records retention, which would make it pretty ironic if a bunch of her most newsworthy texts got mysteriously deleted...

I really appreciate this explanation. As someone who has worked in IT for employment lawyers, my first assumption was that of course the NYT would review a fired reporter's emails, but what you're saying here makes a lot of sense.

Agreed! Mine haven't been that bad, and it's hard to find a balance between acknowledging that it's incredibly painful for some people and not scaring people away from the procedure.
