£40 million to be spent for a Christian monument The Eternal Wall when Hospices are having to shut beds due to a lack of money. Religion has its priorities totally wrong.

The USA seems to be increasingly full of hate. Their religious beliefs are antipodal to the teachings of Jesus. The fact vitriol for the winning team and their partners at the Ryder Cup was not managed properly just shows the problem exists at all levels.

Such acts as these two should make even the most ardent Trump supporter question their choices.

Surely, there are many republicans in the government who understand enough about economics to realise everything Trump is doing is going to crash the country's economy

2 million more GP appointments in four months! Divide that by the number of GPS, 38626 gives 51.8 per GP over a five month period. Less than 3 a week for each GP. No wonder it is still very difficult to get a GP appointment.

I've been reading about the government's planned National Care Service. I joined the NHS in the 1970s, and the need to expand community care has been talked about since then. It is still woefully inadequate. I doubt this plan will prove any better.

Having assisted a few STEM classes in our village primary school, I'm not surprised at the lack of basic DIY skills. Of a class of 28 year 4 children, only four knew how to use a screwdriver, and 3 of them were girls.

The older I get the less I'm inclined to take a risk. Now the most perilous thing I do is leaving a biscuit to dunk in coffee for more than a couple of seconds.

Just back from picking up a neighbour from hospital, the roads are very slushy with lots of standing water as the slush is blocking the drains. These snowy, slushy conditions are far from common but so many drivers think they know how to manage them.

One more thing, it's winter, it gets cold, it gets wet. It gets frosty. It may even snow. I don't need to be told multiple times, even just once. to turn the heating up. Dress appropriately when going outside and keep some food in case it gets too bad to go shopping.

Strange to think the French may soon prefer to drink beer instead of wine. In the UK, wine consumption may soon pass beer consumption. In France, the trend is in the opposite direction.

Today's paper. Climbing trees is something every boy I knew as a kid did lots of time. How far have we come from the free living childhood we had in the 1950s and 60s.

Stephen Cottrell's words yesterday were pure projection. What he said the Church needed to do, he completely failed to do, and what he should do now, he is also failing to do. How can he justify continuing to be part of a Church he is partly responsible for breaking.

As a follower of Jesus, but outside the “organised” church, I would say the next change is the resignation of Stephen Cottrell?

Justin Welby took one for the team, now ALL those involved should do the right thing and ask for the forgiveness of the victims.

Archbishop's sermon to say Church must 'be changed' over abuse
Stephen Cottrell, the Archbishop of York, has faced calls to resign over his handling of a sexual abuse case involving a priest.

If Stephen Cottrell wants to truly change the church of England, then the answer is simple, resign and let those who are true followers make the change.

In the UK, the new Labour government seems to be following a similar, if somewhat diluted, path.

The schism in the population of the USA is going to drag the country backward to more oppressive times. It is one of self preservation driven by religion and politics as opposed to serving and supporting the whole country and building a community that works for everyone's benefit.

It's a conundrum, the wild west portrayed by Hollywood was, in fact, quite not very wild at all. Fast forward to today and it's not just the west that is wild, its the whole of the USA.

George Carey the former Archbishop of Canterbury resigns having failed to protect children from a predatory member of the church. I wonder how many other church officials will continue to hold on to their privileged position while claiming the system did not give them the power to act.

The machinations and chaos currently happening with the creation of Trump's cabinet appointments is but the hors d'oeuvres to the plat principal to come.
