I just came across The Pink Scar (2025), which — both in its title and its argument — strongly recalls The Badge of Injury, a work by my friend @sebboo.bsky.social /Sébastien Tremblay that appeared two years earlier. It’s an important and fascinating topic that truly deserves attention.

I used to watch Terra X every sunday as a kid, so it was a real pleasure to join an episode of this ZDF documentary series as an expert. A fascinating dive into the hidden histories of Venice—on very (very) popular ground. Watch my sixty seconds in three bits here: www.zdf.de/play/dokus/t...

My brilliant friend and colleague @sebboo.bsky.social Sébastien Tremblay presented his book A Badge of Injury on the New Books Network — sharp analysis, compellingly told, highly recommended! Go and listen, then go and read! 🎧📚

Saturday afternoon. I haven’t read any research in 48 hours, but no one seems to suspect a thing...

Great session with students today, working hands-on with things/artifacts/material sources. A strong reminder of how important the tactile side of history is (and how much I love it)—something we should perhaps emphasize more, even in traditional history programs. #history #earlymodern #skystorians

Thoughtprovoking meeting of 'Dingwissen' network at the Humboldt Forum today: Dep. Dir. Alexis von Poser led us to reflect on authenticity, originality, models – and whether a Samoan mat, traditionally placed on the floor, should be allowed to be displayed hanging. #sensoryhistory #skystorians

A cherished collaboration: "Dingwissen" network explores how sensory engagement with things shaped knowledge in the premodern period. We are a small group of experts from museums and research institutions meeting regularly for discussions. Today @Humboldt Forum. #ObjectEpistemologies #SensoryHistory

[History of Tuscany] One of my pet projects is a #landscape history of #Tuscany, focusing on its working population. The region’s iconic scenery owes to the so-called mezzadria (sharecropping). (1/3)

"Writing about history is like dancing about architecture," or so they say. I'm happy to contribute a chapter about an Ottoman handkerchief on Piaz. San Marco to F. Lembo Fazio's and V. Tomassetti's volume on the relationship between Emotions and Architecture in the forging of Mediterranean cities.
