The King cannot remove his peerages unilaterally. That can only be done with Parliament’s express permission. However, in theory, Andrew could petition the King to allow him to relinquish them and the King could grant his request. Of course that will never happen.

No, that would remove him from the line of succession, but not his HRH. His HRH could be removed by the King, either unilaterally or by granting a petition from Andrew. This was last done in 1919. Diana would have kept her HRH (as Sarah did for 3 months) had C not insisted she lose it on divorce.

Yes, that’s what I mean - lost it in a good way! 😁

I really hope this is the case. It just feels more likely that someone caught wind of the Spencer tiara walking down the aisle on global TV and “organised” HLM’s offer. When AK was dragging the chain, it would have been great if they just gone with the Spencer. The world would have lost it.

Highness was abolished as a style in 1917 by George V.

This is not correct. The person who wore that brooch was her sister in-law.

No, that was her sister in law. HLRH was, by all accounts, a good sort.

…says the man who left a trail of destruction in his wake as he pursued a union with the woman he loved; harming his wife, children and the institution in the process. Okie dokie.

Beat me to it.

Now all we have to do is wait for the British press to speak to an expert mixologist for comment on how she’s doing it all wrong 🙄

Hopefully by then their Uncle Sussex will be a billionaire and in a position to give them some support if they want to leave. A lifetime of being dependent on your father or brother for “jobs”, money, housing, security, titles etc. Having to comply or risk being punished is no life.

H&M will age out eventually, the headlines won’t sell as much, and it will be Charlotte’s and Louis’ turn to be laid upon the altar in ritual sacrifice for the judgment and amusement of the masses and as protection for their father and brother. It’s cruel system.

Her marriage to Harry provoked a deep collective psychological and emotional malfunction. So much so, that using his surname or even referring to him as her *husband* freaks them out. I’m not sure they will ever get over it.

Oh they do and they generally put in an i after the a (all very primary school). But NZ and Australia just pronounce the name that way normally.
