It is the backup route, but a wholly inappropriate one. A narrow, residential street with an elementary school (and currently no protected bike lane), it is an absolute shit show of near misses every day as they race through crosswalks at full speed.

I’d love to know what the people who stay at the Cogswell site think about the Out of the Cold firing.

If they really cared about congestion, they would build better TRANSIT.

Anyone who wants to know another reason why we need a bike lane on Morris Street should come sit on the sidewalk bench in front of the school I teach at there, where a full 98% of students walk to school. It’s full-on dangerous.

The issue is that a one way street option with bike lanes would save the trees (YAY!), but if they kept it as a two way street with a bike lane the trees would be cut. He wants to go back on a previous promise to residents to spare the trees. I intend to advocate for the bike lane and the trees.

I know someone who has tried to create a no-mow, pollinator friendly space for the last three years and every single month between April and October she gets hassled by HRM Bylaw Enforcement until she cuts it and has to start over. Every time.
