Years ago, when I worked for Isis Publishing, I bought the unabridged audio rights to one of her books. I was 23 at the time and was shocked and thrilled to receive a thank you card from her. I still have it. She brought fun and comfort to so many.

Yes! And I think this is at least partly responsible for the boom in suspense writing among those of us who grew up then!
