Me and my husband were considering a trip to the USA national parks with our kids, before all this. We're Italians, we've grown up with USA movies, books, TV series... But now, even if you don't consider a trip as a political endorsement, you know: air traffic problems, parks staff cuts...

Humble suggestion: the story of the rise of fascism in Italy from 1922 on is a great textbook on how an ineffective coordination can lead opposition forces to missing the momentum. We had it here for more than twenty years, and its remnants are still affecting us nowadays. So keep safe, everyone.

Italian here, during WWII there were people who actively joined the resistance, but there were also people who gave food and shelter to people in need, even to escaped POWs. The punishment if caught was execution by firing, and they often were just poor uneducated farmers, but they did it anyway.
