Big implications:
Explains size and shape of cytoplasmic condensates
May underlie condensate aging, mechanical sensing, and compartmentalization
Opens door to targeting motility to regulate phase separation—e.g., in viral replication or synthetic biology

To understand how force affects condensation, we used Langevin dynamics simulations. Using bead-spring polymers with Lennard-Jones attraction, we applied directional force, observing decreased saturation concentration (ρ_sat), enhanced phase separation, and motile molecules enriched in dense phases.

ARF condensates move along actin filaments in the cytoplasm!
We found this movement was: fast (~10 µm/s), directional, and disrupted by actin depolymerization = all signatures of active transport via myosin motors.
